New Hampshire Family Photographer »

As a New Hampshire Family Photographer I’ve gotten used to shooting in the cold…it’s just part of the job.  But this was different….It was the middle of winter, freezing cold temperatures, ice cold rain and wind whipping off of the ocean.  For any other client this session would’ve been canceled BUT I know Ashley and when she has something planned she’s going to make it happen and there’s not a whole lot that will stop her!

When I checked in with her that morning she confirmed exactly what I thought she would- the session was on!  The entire drive there I couldn’t believe we were about to do this.  The entire session (a total of maybe 6 minutes) we froze and I’m pretty sure it took us the rest of the day to defrost.

All that being said there is one thing I can confirm- I’m so grateful we did that session.

It turns out that that was Tobin’s last session with me.  Tobin passed away a few months later.  There’s not much else I can write without sobbing.  There’s so much I want to say about Tobin…mostly that he pretty much hated every session he had with me!  Ashley and I joke about this all the time…I have endless outtakes of him VERY mad at me!

As soon as I would put down my camera that little man would snuggle me, smile at me and be as happy as ever.   Thankfully he couldn’t resist his mama so within every session she was able to work out those warm little smiles.  He sure did love his mama!

It’s been almost exactly 2 months since Tobin passed away…and I still have never felt it was the perfect time to share these images.  Sometimes you wonder if it’s too hard to look back but I think the opposite is true.  As I see Tobin’s mom Ashley comforted by looking back at photos of him and sharing them with friends, I’m reminded how precious these images are.  They’re precious not because of any talent I may have, not because I had the right settings on my camera, or because Ashley and her sister coordinated the perfect outfits.  They’re treasures because they froze that time.  That time where we all froze on the beach, in the pouring rain is now preserved forever…it’s invaluable to have our memories preserved.

Sweet Tobin, you will be greatly missed.  Not only were you the sweetest most cuddly little man but you gave us a chance to see true unconditional love through your parents and the love they had for you.  Your life too short but your impact so large. Fly high sweet boy <3

It’s amazing how your heart can be broken into a thousand pieces and be so full all at the same time.   That’s how I felt after leaving the H family’s home on Monday morning.  You see few weeks ago I barely knew the H family.  We had met here and there but hadn’t really gotten to know them.  Then we heard the news, their middle son Benaiah had been diagnosed with Leukemia.  I can’t imagine what that would feel like as a parent.  As Beth and Ryan stayed by their son’s side through the tests, the fevers and the first treatments, we cared for their oldest son Jake.

Jake quickly took a huge piece of our hearts and through him we got to know more about him and his family.  His bedtime bible studies, sweet prayers for his brother and huge hugs made it pretty clear that this little guy came from a very special family!

When Beth asked if I’d come and take some pictures for them I was so excited to get together with them and capture their little family.  With Benaiah being so sick they’re not able to take him out and about for pictures so we decided to photograph them in their home.  When I suggested we do photos while they decorated their tree Beth agreed that’d be perfect!

While I was there I saw a tiny glimpse of the pain and the suffering that Benaiah is going through.  My heart broke as he struggled through some of the morning in pain but through that I also saw the joy he got as he snuggled with his mama (the most patient woman in the world), laughed at his big brother’s silly faces, let his little brother squeeze him with big hugs and of course the joy as daddy lifted him up to put the angel on the tree.   So when I say my heart was broken and full all at the same time this is what I mean!

So much strength in this family, so much love and most of all so much faith.  Take a minute to watch this little video of our morning together and after that be sure to go like the “Help the Hills” Facebook page to keep updated on this little guy and his family’s needs.  Also, if you feel so inclined to donate to help this family with the tremendous cost of treatment, taking time off of work and commuting 2 hours for treatment each week, you can do that here- http://anniesangels.net/hills-family-assistance-fund/.

You ask and you shall receive!  Normally ABP shuts down for the Christmas season but this year we’re changing things up!  This year I’m introducing a totally new and magical option for your Christmas pictures- are you ready for it? Picture your family baking Christmas cookies, decorating your gingerbread house, decorating the Christmas tree or snuggling up on the couch to read ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas.  How many times have you been doing these things wishing you could remember those moments forever?  I know every year I feel this way!  That’s why this year I’m offering Christmas Lifestyle Sessions!

These Christmas Lifestyle sessions will be unlike any ABP experience you’ve had in the past.  I’ve priced these sessions as an all inclusive digital package.  If you’ve worked with me before you know that doesn’t happen often (well ever).  For $600 you’ll receive the session, all of the High Resolution digital files AND the Keepsake DVD.  That’s a $1,200 value for $600!  Sound too good to be true?  It’s not! The only catch is that I can only book a few of these sessions so it’s on a first come first serve basis.

We’ll schedule 2 hours of fun with your family and I’ll be there to capture it!  If you’ve never seen my Lifestyle work here’s what a recent client had to say about it-

“We are incredibly thankful to have these precious moments in time preserved in such a beautiful, authentic way. Our session was just like any typical Saturday. We laughed our way through the morning as we baked, read and played together… and Anna was in the background quietly clicking away the whole time. It felt… real. Relaxed. Joyful. I was brought to tears when I saw the photos from our session. Anna caught those little family moments – a snuggle, a favorite toy, an impromptu tickle session – with perfect accuracy. The images were beautifully captured and edited, but most importantly, they were us… happy, crazy, loving our time together. When I look through our photos, I can almost hear the 10-years-from-now me whispering “thank you for helping me remember these sweet, busy days”

Take a peek at this video below to see what you can expect from a lifestyle session!

Just imagine all the fun, magical moments we could capture together!  Photos will be ready in a VERY timely manner in order to provide you with the ability to purchase holiday gifts and cards for all of your loved ones!  And remember for the first time EVER the digital files are included in your session with full printing rights!  I think grandma needs a mug! 😉

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time you know that I LOVE to support other local businesses!  One of my absolute FAVORITE businesses in town is the fabulous My Reis Salon.   You’ve seen them on my blog before and you’ve definitely heard me rave about them on Facebook.

I have THICK…and when I say thick I don’t just mean your average thick hair…I mean freakishly thick and oddly curly hair.  My hair has been trouble for my entire life!  I always dreamed of being able to do something with this head of hair other than put it up in a pony tail.

Well, a few years ago I found My Reis Salon!  I no longer have a hate for my hair and I definitely don’t fear going to the salon anymore!  EVERYONE there is awesome!   Now I can actually look forward to a few hours being spent getting my hair cut, colored and styled.  I can sip a cup of coffee or a glass of wine while I’m pampered and I love it!

You see My Reis Salon, although a completely different business than photography, has the same business philosophy as I do and that is to give your client an incredible experience and a fantastic end result.  I’ve never left My Reis not feeling wonderful about the way I look and the time spent with all the lovelies there!

Now that I’ve given you my rave review (again!) I’m so excited to share with you the photos from the most recent event at My Reis- Their 6th Birthday Bash!  It was quite the event!  Balloons, giveaways, mimosas and mini-monogramed cakes (and they were vegan!) from The Bakers Beet!   Enjoy the video below!

The longer that I am a New Hampshire Family Photographer the more clients I see coming back as they get older.  It’s my absolute favorite when I photograph a newborn then get to capture them as they grow up!

Carter is one of my little newbies that I’m just loving photographing over and over again!  I LOVED running around on the beach with him and his mom and dad (even if it meant a big EMBARRASSING fall!).  It was the perfect weather to be running around and splashing in the cold ocean water!

I have been photographing so much at the beach this summer which is not my norm but boy and I loving it! I’m a little sad to be leaving the beach behind as the weather gets chillier…maybe that’s why I’ve decided to do Christmas Mini’s at the beach this year!  You can’t beat this gorgeous backdrop that’s for sure!

Aren’t they just the cutes family!? Now that I’ve shared these photos with you I cannot wait to share with you this family’s Maternity pictures (we did those at the beach too!).  You’re going to have to wait a little while longer for that but I promise it’ll be worth the wait!
